BABYLON RISING - Original song by Natasha Chanwai
This song I recorded on my lil sony dictaphone it's raw, it had just been written, I like to record my songs when they are new and often I havent gotten them completely figured out. It's when they are the closest to how I felt at that time and for me it's when they mean the most. I love the process of when my songs come together. I usually write a song in one session, if it doesn't come together on it's own then I don't bother it just seems to be the way I work. This particular song came together after our city council had made some decisions that alot of local musicians didn't agree with.

Lyrics

Babylon is rising in my town
He's trying to cut my Zion tree down

And they've got generation UPON generation UNDONE generation OPRESS generation
they embrace segregation, all across my nation
Leave me with confussion
With no compensation
Babylon is rising in my town
He's trying to cut my Zion tree down
Oh Lord, Oh Lord

You got to stand up and fight
you heard it all before
You got to do what is right
You heard it all before
cause in the dark of the night
when they come knocking at the door
Thats when you know this fight is worth fighting for

Oh babylon is rising in my town he's trying to chop my Zion tree down.
